Volleyball earns District Runner-Up

We want to celebrate our Lady Generals Volleyball Team who worked hard and never gave up as they lost to Bethlehem's squad in the District Finals.  This was the FIRST time the Volleyball program has made it to the Championship game.  We are so proud of the athlete's and coaches who worked diligently to prepare and compete on the floor.  Their courage and perseverence continues to shine bright on those who follow the program's journey through competition.

We also want to congratulate Coach Morris and Coach Kennedy on a great season.  In their first years as LEADERS here at TNHS they continue to organize and plan opportunities that bring the best out of our Lady Generals.  We are very fortunate to have their leadership and strong character.

Great Job Lady Generals!

Hello Community Partners and Athletic LEADERS,
We are excited to announce that we have hired Emily Beam as the new Dance Team LEADER.  After discussing this opportunity at length, we feel that Ms. Beam’s long term vision and experiences in the field of Dance will make her a fantastic leader in this venue.  The vision she is developing and refining will continue to help our young ladies fulfill our mission of active and informed citizenship.  Providing high quality educational and leadership experiences are our number one priority at Thomas Nelson High School and we believe that her leadership will continue that trend onward and upward.

We will be setting up a time and date that will allow any and all who are interested in meeting Ms. Beam in a “Meet and Greet” setting where anyone interested may talk and ask questions with our new Dance LEADER.  We will announce that time and date through announcements, our athletics facebook page, and letters in the near future.  If you have any questions, please feel free to contact us.
Thank you for your time, support and CARE for our student-athletes here at TNHS,

New Athletic LEADERs

Coaches, Program Builders, and World Changers,

We are excited to officially move ahead with our new athletic LEADERship roles for 2015-2016.

Joining Dooley Mattingly on the team of athletic LEADERship will be Joshua Whitehouse, Sean Smith, and Daniel Mudd.

Sean and Daniel are both Nelson County graduates and just joined our team this year as asst. game managers for fall and winter sports. Sean is also a new History teacher at Thomas Nelson.

Josh Whitehouse will be serving in the traditional role that Sara and Bob served in terms of communication, compliance, and program building. Due to Josh's Head coaching responsibilities he will not be as involved with game management until the spring season. Dooley will continue to serve as a primary point of contact for fall game management. We are fortunate to have both of these gentlemen heading up our athletic program.

Please click here for an overview of Athletic Director RolesThis document is living and will evolve as we learn together.

I encourage you to reference the Athletic Director Roles document if you have questions about whom to contact for what. If you’re not sure – please ask!

In the weeks ahead Josh Whitehouse and I will be reaching out to each of you to begin planning strategically on this collaborative document – World Class Program Building. Your team slide will be added as we begin the collaborative conversations with each of you to continue building World Class Programs across the school. This is a transparent way to keep the growth conversation going across all team sports. Here’s to our continued journey as a school and your work as athletic LEADERs to change our community for the better each day.

Creating Your Own Legacy Core

TNHS Program Builders,

Thank you for allowing me to share documents, ideas, and conversations this past week at our Athletic LEADER meeting. At the meeting, I spoke about the learning I've experienced through creating a Legacy Core team within our Lady Generals Soccer team. I've summarized my thoughts and suggestions for creating a Legacy Core within your program on this link. Feel free to copy, edit, or pull ideas from any of these documents, but remember I suggest that you make sense of it before you begin this process. Finally, do not hesitate to reach out to me with questions or concerns you may have, I'm eager to help!

Thanks,

Alex Martin
